Write a scope statement. Project: [PROJECT]. What the client or sponsor expects: [EXPECTATIONS]. Things they have asked about that I am unsure of: [UNSURE_ITEMS].

Produce: a scope summary in 120 words; in-scope deliverables with acceptance criteria; explicitly out-of-scope items (at least 8, including the unsure ones phrased as questions); assumptions; dependencies on the client; constraints; and change process (how a request is submitted, estimated, approved, and logged).

Write a short email (120 words) to the sponsor asking them to confirm the scope and out-of-scope list by a date. Add three example change requests with the recommended handling and an estimate method (hours x rate plus schedule impact). Include a checklist for scope review meetings. Never assume an item is in scope because it is not listed as out; mark such items as questions. Contract implications should be checked with a lawyer for [JURISDICTION] [VERIFY].

Check the scope statement for ambiguous verbs such as 'support' or 'manage' and replace each with a measurable deliverable. Provide the out-of-scope list as a numbered table so each item can be referred to in later change requests.

Scope: design of a five-page website with a contact form and up to two rounds of changes per page.
Assumptions: you supply all text and photos by 14 March; hosting and domain are already in place; approvals come from one named person within three working days.

If an assumption turns out to be wrong, we will tell you the effect on cost or dates before doing the work.
