Complaint Subject Line and First Paragraph Audit
Audit a complaint's subject line and first paragraph so the reader knows the problem, what you want and by when.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Audit the first impression of my complaint. The subject line and the first paragraph of my message: [SUBJECT_AND_OPENING]. The recipient: [RECIPIENT]. What I want: [DESIRED_OUTCOME]. Test whether a stranger can answer three questions from the subject and first paragraph alone: what is the problem, what do you want, and by when. Score from 1 to 5 each for clarity, specificity (reference numbers, dates, amounts), tone, and routing (does it say which department should act). Count words in the first paragraph and flag sentences over 25 words, with the arithmetic. Make a table with Element, Score, Problem, and Rewrite. Provide three alternative openings of 40 to 60 words in different tones, and a note on what to move out of the opening into later paragraphs. Do not change facts. Ask me for anything missing. Do not give me legal advice. Invent no law, deadline or odds. Use [JURISDICTION] and [RELEVANT_LAW_OR_POLICY_IF_KNOWN] as given. Flag where I need expert help. Keep every draft calm and fair.

Subject: 'Complaint' - score 1 for specificity. Better: 'Order 55120: faulty oven, refund request by 15 June'. First paragraph (41 words, one sentence of 41): too long. Rewrite: 'I bought an oven on 3 May (order 55120). It stopped heating on 12 May and I have had no repair date. I ask for a refund of 549 by 15 June.' Three-question test: problem (faulty oven), want (refund), by when (15 June): all answered. Routing: add 'Customer Care, Returns' to the first line.
