Accessibility Personas and Inclusive Scenarios
Design with a wider range of people in mind.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Create inclusive scenarios. Product and key tasks: [PRODUCT_AND_TASKS]. Known user diversity (age, ability, language, connectivity, devices): [USER_DIVERSITY]. Research available: [RESEARCH]. Write 5 scenarios based on situations rather than labels: a person using a screen reader to complete the key task; someone with low vision using magnification; someone with a tremor using a touch screen; a non-native speaker with limited reading fluency; someone on a slow connection in bright sunlight using one hand. For each scenario: context, goal, barriers in the current or planned design, what would help, and a test. Emphasize that these are prompts for design thinking and testing, not substitutes for research with real people and that disability is varied and personal. Add questions for recruiting participants, a table mapping scenarios to design requirements (including measurable ones), and a checklist for reviews. Do not stereotype or invent research findings. Mark assumptions [VERIFY]. Convert each scenario into two testable requirements, for example 'every control is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone', and list who in the team should verify each, noting that testing with real users is still needed.
