Link Jira Dependencies From a List of Work Items
Turn a dependency list into correct issue links and a safe order.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Work out the Jira issue links for these work items. The issues with key, summary, team and planned dates: [ISSUE_LIST]. The dependencies as people described them in plain words (for example A cannot start until B is done): [DEPENDENCY_NOTES]. The link types available in our project, as far as I know: [LINK_TYPES]. For each dependency state which issue blocks which, choose the matching link type and direction (for example 'B blocks A' and 'A is blocked by B'), and say what the dates imply: is the blocking issue planned to finish before the blocked one starts? If a dependency is ambiguous, ask which direction it runs instead of guessing. Flag circular dependencies, dependencies where the dates already conflict, issues blocked by more than three others, and dependencies that cross teams. Suggest a safe order of work and the issues to start first because many others wait on them. Output a table with Blocking issue, Blocked issue, Link type, Dates OK (yes or no) and Note, a plain-text order of work, and the exact comment to post on any cross-team blocker asking the owning team for a firm date. Link type names differ between projects and versions, so mark them [VERIFY] and tell me where to check the list. Use only the issues and dependencies I give you.
