Google Docs Suggesting Mode Review Process for a Team
Set clear rules for commenting, suggesting and approving edits.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Create a review process for a shared Google Doc. Document type and owner: [DOC_TYPE_AND_OWNER]. Reviewers and their roles: [REVIEWERS]. Deadline: [DEADLINE]. Problems we had before: [PAST_PROBLEMS]. Write short rules in plain language: who may edit directly and who must use Suggesting, how to write a useful comment (give an example of a good and a poor comment for the same problem), how to mark questions versus required changes, how to assign comments to people [VERIFY], how long reviewers have to respond and what happens if they do not, when to name a version, and who accepts or rejects suggestions. Add a conflict rule: when two reviewers disagree, who decides and how it is recorded. Provide a timeline with dates counted back from the deadline, a final checklist, and a confirmation step in which the owner posts a final comment listing what was accepted. Write a friendly message to reviewers that explains the process.
