Test how well people can find things in our SharePoint. A list of 20 common tasks or documents with the words people would search for (policies, forms, templates, contacts, procedures): [TASKS_AND_SEARCH_TERMS]. For each, the result I observed when I searched as an ordinary user (position of the right result or not found): [OBSERVED_RESULTS].

Test as an ordinary user, not as an administrator, and do not collect personal search histories. Calculate the share found at position 1, in the top 3, in the top 10, and not found, with arithmetic (11 of 20 in the top 3 is 55 percent). For each failure diagnose the likely cause: the title lacks the search words, no description or metadata, several versions competing, the document is where the user cannot see it, the page is old, or the term is an informal name. Propose fixes for the ten worst: rename, add metadata, add a synonym or featured link, remove duplicates, correct permissions [VERIFY].

Return a table with Task, Search term, Result, Cause and Fix, repeat the test after the fixes and compare, and add a monthly routine to review the commonest searches with no results.
