Figma Component Library Naming and Variants Plan
Plan reusable components, variants and naming conventions.

Plan a Figma component library. Product type and platforms: [PRODUCT]. Components we use now (buttons, inputs, cards, navigation, modals, tables, alerts): [COMPONENTS]. Problems, for example detached instances, inconsistent buttons or unclear names: [PROBLEMS]. Team size and who maintains the library: [TEAM]. Present the library as a table with Component, Variants, Properties and Notes. For each component propose a name, properties and variants (type, size, state, icon position), which properties should be boolean toggles or text overrides, the layer structure, and the use of auto layout [VERIFY property names and capabilities in my plan]. Keep variants to the combinations that really occur. Define a naming convention with slashes for grouping, rules for variants versus separate components, and a documentation block per component: when to use, when not to use, accessibility notes. Include a plan for tokens or variables for colour, spacing, radius and type. Add governance: who may change a component, how changes are announced, versioning, deprecation and a review rhythm. Provide a migration plan to replace detached copies with instances, and a testing checklist for a new component.
