Track stock with a script-free alert approach and optional script.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Create an inventory tracker in Google Sheets for [BUSINESS]. Items and units: [ITEMS]. Reorder points and supplier lead times: [REORDER_INFO]. Who updates stock and how often: [UPDATERS]. Design sheets for items, stock movements (in and out) and a summary. Give formulas for current stock from movements, a flag when stock is below the reorder point, days of cover from average daily use, and a list of items to order using FILTER [VERIFY]. Worked example: 120 units in stock and average use of 8 per day gives 15 days of cover; with a lead time of 10 days and a safety margin of 3, reorder when cover falls below 13 days. Add conditional formatting for the flag, data validation for item names, and sample rows with results. Describe how to get a notification, using the built-in notification rules or an Apps Script if the user is comfortable [VERIFY]. Include a monthly count and reconcile routine.

Invented item. Stock 120, average use 8 per day: cover 120 / 8 = 15 days. Lead time 10 days plus 3 days margin = 13. 15 is above 13, so no flag yet; at 100 units cover is 12.5 days and the item is flagged. Order list check: items flagged this week are 6 of 48, which is 12.5 percent of lines. For each flagged item the order quantity is average daily use x (lead time + review days) minus stock on hand; for this item 8 x (10 + 7) - 100 = 36 units. The sheet shows the quantity and the supplier so that the order can be placed without searching.
