Plan a literature search. My research question: [RESEARCH_QUESTION]. Field and databases I can access: [FIELD_DATABASES]. Time frame and languages: [TIMEFRAME_LANGUAGES]. Types of sources wanted: [SOURCE_TYPES].

Break the question into concepts, list synonyms and related terms for each, and combine them into search strings with Boolean operators, showing three versions from narrow to broad. Propose inclusion and exclusion criteria, a search log table (database, date, string, number of results, notes), and a screening process in stages (title, abstract, full text). Add a method to check for missing key papers, such as reference list checking and citation tracking. Do not invent articles or authors; ask me for results to analyse. Remind me that database features and syntax vary, so I should check each database's help pages [VERIFY].

Also add a one-page protocol that I can save with my project, listing the question, concepts, strings, databases, dates, criteria and the number of records at each screening stage, so that the search can be repeated or reported. Suggest a routine for updating the search before submission, and a warning not to rely on a single database or on the first page of results.

Add a section on managing results. Provide a method for exporting records to a reference manager, removing duplicates, and recording the number of items at each stage of screening so that the process can be described in a methods section. Add a screening form with columns for citation, inclusion decision, reason for exclusion, and notes, and a rule to have a second person screen a sample of ten percent if the project allows. Include guidance on grey literature and preprints, how to judge quality in a simple way, and a plan to set search alerts for new papers. Remind me that systematic review standards are specific to each field, so I should check what my discipline or supervisor requires [VERIFY].
