Write Acceptance Criteria for an Existing Jira Story
Add testable criteria to a story that has only a description.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Write acceptance criteria for a Jira story that already exists. The story summary and description as they stand: [STORY_TEXT]. Users and roles involved: [USERS_AND_ROLES]. Business rules and limits I know about (amounts, dates, permissions): [BUSINESS_RULES]. Things the story should not do: [OUT_OF_SCOPE]. Write six to ten numbered criteria in Given/When/Then form covering the main path, at least two error or invalid-input cases, an empty or boundary case, any permission rule, and any message the user must see. Each must be testable by someone who did not write the story, with a clear pass or fail and no words such as quickly, easy or appropriate unless attached to a number or example. If the description is too vague to write a criterion, do not guess; list the question that would settle it. Do not rewrite the description; only add what is missing. Mark assumptions [VERIFY]. Output the numbered criteria ready to paste under an Acceptance criteria heading, then open questions, then the test data a tester will need (for example one user with orders and one without). Finish by saying whether the story is small enough for one sprint given the number of criteria, and which criteria could become a separate story if not.
