Define an activation metric. Product and core value: [PRODUCT_AND_VALUE]. Early user actions we track: [TRACKED_ACTIONS]. Retention data (if any): [RETENTION_DATA]. Step 1: propose three candidate activation events (for example created a first project, invited a teammate, completed a first report). Step 2: for each, build a comparison from my data: retention of users who did the event within 7 days versus those who did not, with the arithmetic shown, plus ease of measurement and whether the event reflects value or just activity. Step 3: choose one and define it precisely: event name, time window, qualifying conditions, exclusions (test accounts, internal users). Step 4: compute the current activation rate = activating users / signups, and identify the two largest drop-off steps. Output format: a comparison table (Event | Retained if done | Retained if not | Difference | Measurable? | Value or activity?), then the final definition in one sentence, the current rate, and the first experiment to raise it with its success criterion and sample needed. Add one caution about correlation versus causation, for example that users who invite teammates may already be more committed.
