Ad Budget Allocation Across Channels
Split a budget using margins and evidence, not habit.

Help me divide an advertising budget. Total monthly budget: [TOTAL_BUDGET]. Channels I can use: [CHANNELS]. Past results per channel (spend, clicks, sales): [PAST_RESULTS]. Gross margin per sale: [GROSS_MARGIN]. Goals: [GOALS]. For each channel calculate cost per sale and return on spend as revenue divided by spend, showing the arithmetic, and the profit per sale after margin. Mark channels with too little data to judge. Propose an allocation with a testing share of about 10 to 20 percent for new ideas and a rule for moving money after four weeks. Return a table with Channel, Spend, Sales, Cost per sale, Return, Confidence and Next step, and a note on effects the numbers miss, such as brand searches caused by other ads. Do not extrapolate from fewer than 30 conversions without stating the uncertainty. Add the profitability test to apply before moving budget: a channel is worth scaling only if its cost per sale is below the margin per sale with room for overheads, and only if the result holds for at least two consecutive periods. Walk through an example: channel A spends 2,000 for 20 sales at margin 150 each, giving cost per sale 100 and profit per sale 50; channel B spends 1,000 for 5 sales, giving cost per sale 200 and a loss of 50 per sale. Show how to replace the invented numbers with mine. Describe how to keep a log of budget moves with the reason, date and expected effect, and how to review the effect four weeks later. Add a short section on seasonality: compare against the same period last year where possible, and avoid cutting a channel during its normal slow season based on one month of data. Include guidance on when a channel assists others, for example brand search rising after video, and a cautious way to test it by pausing a channel in one region only. Warn against double counting conversions across platforms that each claim the same sale.

Invented channels, one month. Search: spend 2,000, 20 sales, revenue 4,000. Cost per sale 100; return 4,000 / 2,000 = 2.0. Margin 150 per sale gives profit per sale 50. Social: spend 1,000, 5 sales, revenue 1,000. Cost per sale 200; return 1.0; profit per sale minus 50 (150 margin less 200). Email: spend 100, 8 sales, revenue 1,600. Cost per sale 12.5; return 16. Proposal: keep search; trim social to a test share; scale email carefully. Confidence: social low (5 sales only).
