Two-Page Resume Cut to One Page Decision Tree
Decide what stays, shrinks, or goes.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Help me shorten my resume using a decision tree. Target role: [TARGET_ROLE]. Years of experience: [YEARS]. Resume: [PASTE_RESUME]. Page limit I want: [PAGE_LIMIT]. For each item on the resume, run this tree and show the verdict: 1. Does it relate to the target role? IF no THEN cut, unless it shows a skill the role needs. 2. Is it from more than 10 to 15 years ago and not essential? IF yes THEN reduce to a one-line entry or remove. 3. Does it show a result? IF it is only a duty THEN merge it with a stronger bullet or cut. 4. Is it repeated in another section? IF yes THEN keep the stronger version. 5. Is it a skill everyone is assumed to have (Microsoft Office, email)? IF yes THEN cut. 6. Is it older education detail (grades, courses) for someone with experience? IF yes THEN cut. 7. IF still long THEN reduce bullets: three to five for recent roles, one to two for older ones. Return a table: Section or bullet | Verdict (keep, shorten, merge, cut) | Reason | Rewritten line. Then show the shortened resume, explain layout adjustments (margins, font size, no tiny type below a readable minimum), and list what to put in the cover letter or portfolio instead. Do not remove dates in a way that misleads.
