Reusable Prompt Template System With Variables
Build fill-in-the-blank prompts for repeatable tasks.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Design a template system for prompts I reuse. Tasks I repeat: [REPEATED_TASKS]. Inputs that change each time: [CHANGING_INPUTS]. Where I run prompts (chat, a document, a spreadsheet, a script): [WHERE_I_RUN_PROMPTS].
Produce:
1. A template format: fixed instruction text, variables in [UPPER_CASE_BRACKETS], optional blocks, and defaults. Explain naming rules for variables and a variable dictionary with allowed values.
2. Three complete templates for my repeated tasks, each with the variables listed, a one-line description, a filled example, and the expected output format.
3. A method to fill templates: manual copy, spreadsheet merge (a formula that builds the final prompt from cells), or a short script; include the spreadsheet formula and a small script outline.
4. Validation: a checklist to catch missing variables, leftover brackets, and contradictory values before sending.
5. Maintenance: versioning and a test input for each template.
6. Safety: do not put confidential data in shared templates, and mask sensitive values.
7. Tips for conditional sections ("If [AUDIENCE] is executive, include a one-line summary first").
Show a before-and-after: a long ad-hoc prompt versus the template version, and the time saved. Keep templates short and testable.
Fill in before use
Optional: type your details and the prompt above updates. Nothing is saved or sent.
Replace each bracketed placeholder with your own details, then paste into Any AI or another assistant.

Template: Customer reply "Write a [TONE] reply to the email below for [COMPANY]. Goal: [GOAL]. Facts you may use: [FACTS]. Do not promise anything not in the facts. Length: [LENGTH]. Email: [EMAIL]" Variable dictionary: TONE (warm, firm), GOAL (apologize, decline, confirm), LENGTH (80, 120 words). Spreadsheet merge: =SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(Template, "[TONE]", B2), "[GOAL]", C2). Validation: no leftover brackets, values consistent. Before: a 150-word ad-hoc prompt; after: template filled in 40 seconds. Do not put confidential data into shared templates. Maintenance: version every template and keep one test input for each. Conditional sections: "If [AUDIENCE] is executive, include a one-line summary first." Fill method options: manual copy, spreadsheet merge, or a short script.
