Audit bank rules and reconciliation in Xero. The list of bank rules with conditions and the account they assign: [BANK_RULES]. A sample of recent reconciled transactions with description, amount and account: [TRANSACTION_SAMPLE]. Known miscodings: [KNOWN_MISCODINGS]. Check each rule for overly broad conditions (contains a common word), conflicts between rules, rules that split or mis-assign VAT or sales tax [VERIFY], and rules that have never matched. Test the rules against the sample, listing mismatches with the arithmetic for the error rate. Make a table with Rule, Risk, Example mismatch, and Fix. Propose a naming convention, an order of rules, a monthly review of the top ten rules, and a list of transactions that should always be manual. Include a reconciliation checklist. Mark Xero's rule behaviour [VERIFY] and do not make accounting judgements; suggest asking an accountant. Add a worked test: 40 transactions, 36 coded as expected, 4 wrongly coded (error rate 10 percent), of which 3 matched the broad rule 'contains PAY' and one matched a rule for a supplier whose name changed; show proposed condition changes and a monthly rule review checklist.
