Audit the chart of accounts. List with account number, name, type, balance for the current year, and number of transactions: [ACCOUNT_LIST]. Reports I need: [REPORTS_NEEDED].

Count accounts, those with no activity in 12 months, near-duplicate names (Office Supplies and Office Supply Expense), accounts with very few transactions, names that do not say what belongs in them, and accounts of the wrong type. Example: 148 accounts, 52 with no activity in 12 months (35.1 percent), 11 near-duplicate pairs. Propose merges, renames and deactivations, with the effect on reports, in a safe order: take a backup, get accountant approval, merge the 11 pairs in a test copy first, and check the profit and loss before and after is unchanged. Merging accounts is hard to reverse [VERIFY]. Prefer deactivating to deleting, leave history intact, and never delete an account that has history; add a sign-off line for the accountant.

Return a table and plan. This is bookkeeping education only, not accounting, tax or legal advice; tax and reporting rules differ by place, so list the points a qualified accountant must confirm [VERIFY].
