Design Critique Facilitation Guide
Give useful feedback on design work.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Plan a design critique. Work being reviewed and stage: [WORK_AND_STAGE]. Participants: [PARTICIPANTS]. Feedback needed: [FEEDBACK_NEEDED].
Provide: a 45-minute structure (context and goals 5, silent review 5, clarifying questions 5, feedback rounds 20, summary and next steps 10); rules (feedback ties to goals and users, not personal taste; describe the problem, not the solution; ask questions first); sentence starters ("I notice... which might cause... because the goal is..."); roles (presenter, facilitator, note-taker); and a template to capture feedback with priority.
Add examples of poor and better feedback. Poor: "I don't like the blue." Better: "The blue buttons look similar to the links, so I'm not sure what's clickable; our goal is a clear primary action." Include an etiquette list for remote critique, accessibility prompts (contrast, focus), and a follow-up message (80 words).
Add a feedback capture template with the columns observation, reason tied to a goal, suggestion, and priority, and the closing step where the designer states which feedback they will act on and why.
