KPI Dashboard Formulas
Compute the numbers that drive a dashboard.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Write formulas for dashboard KPIs. App: [SPREADSHEET_APP]. Data layout: [DATA_LAYOUT]. KPIs wanted, with definitions: [KPI_LIST]. Selected period and comparison period controls: [PERIOD_CONTROLS]. Sample data (fake): [SAMPLE_DATA]. Return a table: KPI | Definition | Formula | Comparison formula (vs previous period) | Edge cases. Cover examples such as: total revenue in the selected date range (SUMIFS using the start and end date cells); number of orders (COUNTIFS); average order value (guard against division by zero); conversion rate; growth versus previous period (percent change, with a rule for a zero base); share of total; top product (INDEX/MATCH on MAX or SORT/TAKE); customer repeat rate; churn; year-to-date versus last year to date; target attainment and a status label (on track, at risk, behind) using thresholds in input cells. Add: input cells with data validation for the period; named ranges; a check area (totals reconcile with the data tab); number formats; sparkline formulas for trends; and notes on how to define each KPI in a legend on the dashboard. Provide test calculations for a small sample with expected values. Avoid hardcoding thresholds in formulas.
