Salesforce Report and Dashboard Specification for Sales Managers
Specify reports a manager can use in a weekly pipeline meeting.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Write a specification for Salesforce reports and a dashboard. Questions the sales manager asks each week: [MANAGER_QUESTIONS]. Objects and fields available: [OBJECTS_AND_FIELDS]. Team structure: [TEAM_STRUCTURE]. Meeting length: [MEETING_LENGTH]. Present a table. For each report give the name, report type, filters, grouping, columns, summary fields, sort order and the question it answers: pipeline by stage and close month (open opportunities, close date in the next 90 days), new opportunities this week, deals with no activity in 14 days, deals past their close date, win rate by source (won divided by won plus lost, with arithmetic), and average sales cycle in days. Then specify a dashboard of up to eight components with chart types and the thresholds that should draw attention. Explain definitions in plain words, including how a deal past its close date is identified. No report that nobody will act on; say which fields must be filled in for the reports to be trustworthy. Include a data check that closed won totals match the finance view, a ten-minute meeting script that walks the dashboard in order, and mark report type names and filter options [VERIFY].

Invented report: Pipeline by stage and close month. Filters: opportunities open, close date in the next 90 days. Group by stage then month; columns amount and probability; summary: sum of amount. Example result: Proposal sent, May: 6 opportunities, amount 84,000; Negotiation, May: 3 opportunities, 52,000. Weighted value for May Negotiation at 0.6 = 31,200. Win rate last quarter: 18 won / 60 closed (won plus lost) = 30 percent. Dashboard: eight components, top left the weighted pipeline against target. Data check: closed won this quarter should equal the finance figure within 1 percent.
