Statement of Need With Evidence Table
Make a persuasive, evidence-based need case.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[ADD SOURCE] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Replace or resolve each flag before you use the result.
Draft a statement of need for a grant application. Community or population: [POPULATION]. The problem: [PROBLEM]. Local data I have (with sources): [DATA_WITH_SOURCES]. Our experience with this problem: [OUR_EXPERIENCE]. Funder priorities: [FUNDER_PRIORITIES]. First, build an evidence table with columns: Claim, Data point, Source and year, Strength (strong, moderate, weak), and Gap. Flag anything without a source as [ADD SOURCE]. Do not invent statistics. Then write the statement (about 300 words) with this flow: the human reality in one specific, true example; the scale of the problem with 3 data points; why existing responses are not enough; the root causes; what happens without action; why our organization is positioned to respond; a bridge to the proposed project. Use plain language, no jargon, and avoid deficit-focused framing; include community strengths. Finish with a list of additional data to gather and where to find it. Ask what the program officer has said about priorities.
