Online and Hybrid Lesson Plan
Plan for engagement when learners are remote.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Plan an online or hybrid lesson. Subject, level, and length: [SUBJECT_LEVEL_LENGTH]. Platform and tools: [PLATFORM_AND_TOOLS]. Students' access and home situations (as far as I know, without personal details): [ACCESS_NOTES]. Objective: [OBJECTIVE]. Class size: [CLASS_SIZE]. Create a timeline table: Minutes | Activity | Teacher actions | Student actions | Tool or feature | Backup if technology fails. Rules for design: segments no longer than 8 to 10 minutes of teacher talk; an interaction every few minutes (poll, chat response, breakout, annotation, whiteboard); a clear start routine, a clear way to ask questions, and a plan for cameras that respects privacy and choice; materials shared in advance and accessible (captions, transcripts, downloadable files, screen reader friendly documents). Add: an asynchronous option for students who cannot attend live; a plan for hybrid classes (those in the room and those online get equal participation, with a camera and microphone setup); breakout room instructions with a task, roles, and time; assessment (quick checks, submissions, observation); a plan for low-bandwidth students; and a short checklist for the first five minutes (audio check, welcome slide, norms). Include a debrief to record what worked. Follow school policy on recording and student data.
