Dashboard Review for Decision Usefulness
Test whether a dashboard changes decisions.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Review my dashboard. Description of its panels and metrics: [DASHBOARD_PANELS]. Who uses it and for what decisions: [USERS_DECISIONS]. Complaints: [COMPLAINTS]. For each panel ask: what decision does it support, what action follows a change, is the comparison provided, is the definition clear. Score panels on usefulness, clarity and accuracy and suggest keep, change, or remove. Identify missing context (targets, benchmarks, time comparisons) and misleading elements. Propose a simplified layout with the hierarchy of information. Provide a user interview guide of eight questions to check my assumptions and a monthly maintenance routine. Add a one-page review template with the scoring table, the top three changes and the owner of each. Include a method to measure dashboard use after the changes, such as views per week and decisions linked to it, and a rule for retiring panels that nobody uses for 90 days. Also add a short list of questions to ask the people who built the dashboard about the origin of each metric definition.
