Setting as Character Sheet
Make a place active in the story.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
Turn a location into a character. Location: [LOCATION]. Its role in the story: [ROLE]. Mood to evoke: [MOOD]. Create a sheet with: a one-sentence personality; history in five lines; sensory details across all five senses with two specific details each; sounds and smells at three times of day; hidden places; what the location wants (to protect, to trap, to reveal); how it changes when characters change; and three events that happen there. Provide a 150-word descriptive passage that avoids lists of adjectives and instead uses selected details and a character's perception. Offer three weak descriptions and rewrite them. Keep everything consistent with the genre of [GENRE]. Add an exercise that has a character see the location in three different moods, with a sample paragraph for each in about 50 words, to show how perception colours description. Include a list of overused descriptive crutches to avoid and a suggestion for how to vary the pace when describing the setting in action scenes.
