VS Code Snippets and Productivity Plan for Repetitive Code
Write snippets and shortcuts that save real time.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Help me create VS Code snippets and a productivity plan. Languages: [LANGUAGES]. Code patterns I type repeatedly: [PATTERNS]. Shortcuts I already know: [KNOWN_SHORTCUTS]. Time I lose on repetitive tasks: [TIME_LOST]. For each pattern write a snippet definition in JSON with a prefix, a body with tab stops and placeholders, and a description, keeping snippets short so they do not hide complexity a reader should see. Explain how tab stops, placeholders and choices work, where the file goes, and how to scope it to a language [VERIFY]. Add ten built-in features or shortcuts that match my work, each with a use case: multi-cursor editing, rename symbol, go to definition, find and replace with regular expressions, the command palette and so on [VERIFY]. Time saved: 15 repetitions a day at 40 seconds saved each is 10 minutes a day, about 50 minutes a week. Plan to learn two shortcuts per week and a way to check.
