Postman Mock Server Plan for Front-End Development
Plan example responses so front-end work can start early.
The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.
[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.
Plan a mock server in Postman. Endpoints needed and their agreed contracts: [ENDPOINT_CONTRACTS]. Scenarios the front end must handle (success, empty, error, slow): [SCENARIOS]. Team members: [TEAM]. Present a table with Endpoint, Scenario, Status code, Example response and Expected front-end behaviour, using small realistic invented data, never real data. Cover the empty list, a validation error, an unauthorised request and a slow response, which front-end teams often discover late. Explain how mocks choose which example to return [VERIFY]. Mocks can drift from the real API: prevent it with contract tests, shared examples and reviews, and confirm a match once the real API exists by running the same tests against both and comparing responses. Plan: agree the contract, write examples, share the mock address, switch to the real API, and retire the mock on a stated date. Set a rule for who may change the examples, and a message to notify the team.
