Spreadsheet Formula Consistency Audit From Sample Rows

Table output Has example

Spot inconsistent, hard-coded or broken formulas in a column by comparing sample cells, and get a fix plan that is safe to test on a copy.

The Open buttons send the prompt text as currently shown below to that site only when you click. Fill in the placeholders first.

[VERIFY] is an editorial flag, not a blank to fill. Wherever the prompt shows [VERIFY], check that item against a reliable source before you use it.

Please audit the formulas in one section of my spreadsheet to find inconsistencies that could cause wrong numbers. I will paste formulas as text from several rows. Mention app features with [VERIFY].

Inputs: the formulas from at least 10 consecutive rows in the column, with the row number [FORMULA_SAMPLE], the column headers and what each column should mean [COLUMN_MEANINGS], any totals or summary formulas that depend on this column [DEPENDENT_FORMULAS], and the app I use [SPREADSHEET_APP].

Produce: (1) a table with columns Row, Formula as pasted, Pattern (same as most / different), Problem type (Hard-coded number, Wrong reference, Inconsistent range, Mixed absolute and relative reference, Error value, Text stored as number, None), Why it matters, Suggested correct formula; (2) counts by problem and the percent of rows that differ from the dominant pattern, showing the arithmetic; (3) an explanation, in plain language, of the dominant pattern and what it calculates; (4) a risk ranking of the problems by likely impact on totals; (5) a testing plan on a copy: five checks, such as comparing totals before and after, and testing with a row where the answer is known; (6) a prevention list of habits.

Guardrails: do not assume what a formula should do beyond my column meanings; ask when unclear. Do not rewrite the whole sheet. Always say to work on a copy and keep the original. Do not invent function behaviour.

Add a worked example with invented rows: rows 2 to 9 use =B2*C2 and row 7 shows =B7*0.2. Show it flagged as a hard-coded number and give the corrected formula.

Findings (invented)
Dominant pattern: =B2*C2, copied down rows 2 to 11 (quantity times unit price).
Row 7: =B7*0.2. Problem type: hard-coded number; the price column is not used. Impact: high, because the value does not change if C7 changes. Suggested formula: =B7*C7. If 0.2 is intended, put it in an assumption cell and refer to it.
Row 10: =B10*C9. Problem type: wrong reference (offset by one row). Suggested formula: =B10*C10.
Counts: 8 of 10 rows follow the pattern; 2 differ = 20 percent (2 / 10).
Test on a copy: sum the corrected column and compare it with a manual total of three rows.

Illustrative only, made-up data. Your results will differ and must be reviewed.
